U-Nite 2006 Part I
The long awaited U-Nite 2006 which fell on the 14th of April had finally arrived and gone. It wasn't as great as everyone had expected. It wasn't even impressive. It wasn't even worth any complimentaries. All in all, it didn't really make it.
It's not what i think. It's not what everybody think too. It's about what really happened, and what really is wrong with the night. Read HERE for more opinions.
Well, i'm always sitting on the fence on no matter what comes up. I always tries to be optimistic over matter. Today's post will talk on the failure from U-Nite. I'll post the happy part the next time.
Complaint #1.
As many of us know, Rule #7 for the night reads "Please be punctual. Late comers will not be allowed to enter." Well, they were serious about it. Many of my friends only arrived at around 8pm to PICC, due to the heavy rain and some delays i assume. You can blame them for not being punctual, but then again, the organizing committees were serious when they say you are not allowed to enter. Well, that is at least you'll need to stand on guard outside the hall entrance to become some temporary door usherers while waiting for the arrivals of the VVIPs and the VIPs. So in the end, my friends who were late to the event, was very much late by the time they enter.
I'm not sure as to why they weren't allowed into the hall when the VVIPs and VIPs were yet to arrive, but to me it's definitely a lack of flexibility incompetent act. To this, i'll rate the organizing committee a two thumbs down.
Complaint #2
Well, anyone notice the Opening Ceremoney. I didn't really do actually. It was the same as CCIP's? I'm not really sure. Can someone enlighten me? Well, i just saw something burning on stage, a confused moment on the face of Tun Dr. Mahathir, and some weak hands clapping sound that i wouldn't even call it applausing. With all the mighty budgets, couldn't the organizing team think of something more creative and grand? Well, it didn't really amaze anyone, seriously. For this, another two thumbs down.
Complaint #3
Since the arrival of the VVIPs and the VIPs was far behind schedule, everything through the night got delayed. Well, for every events there WILL be delays no matter how well you plan it. That is why, if you are someone with common sense, you will definitely be flexible during the night to adjust the whole program flow to well suit the situation.
Well, that didn't happen. At least it didn't occurs to me that the director plan any backups just in case the important people arrive late. How smart of him. I don't know about their promoting of Peace during the night. My motive to the night was to have fun and snap pictures with all my friends before graduation. Somehow, that's not what the organizing team had up their sleeves. They were planning to promote peace all along. How lovely.
I don't know if it's true, but somehow i felt that the dance floor wasn't really open for dancing on the night. I saw people finally getting in the mood to get their butt off the chairs not to take photographs but to dance, then the bloody director start thanking everyone and halau-ing people away. The music was cut off instantly, lights out instantly, usherers pushing us out the hall immediately. This is the efficient part of them. Two thumbs up for halau-ing us away so efficiently man.
Complaint #4
Let's talk about the food. I paid RM89 just like everyone else. I ate an appetizer consisting of salad and bread. The portion size of my salad was like being shared by 5 other people. Someone complain the bread was mouldy. I was so bloody hungry that time i didn't even notice. I don't want to know if it happened to me too. I just don't want to know if i ate stale food.
The soup was cold. People was giving statement the soup was Campbell can soup. I don't agree. Why, you might ask? Coz Campbell can soup tasted nicer than this. This was like some tak jadi soup left from last night dinner just taken out from the fridge. Ain't cool man. It's just ain't cool.
Then come the main course, after waited an hour an half for it. Reason was we weren't sitting at the table waiting for it to come. We were blamed, if not being scolded by the caterer. So let me get this straight. We were suppose to go to a prom, dressed up so bloody nicely, sit there the whole night waiting for the food to come, and watch the bloody performance and when the night ends, we drove off with good comments of the night? This might be the case at the other side of the world, but in here, this ain't going to happen.
Now something really pissed me off. Drinks. Why isn't there someone who refill our glasses with water? Is that so hard a thing to find? A glass of water? So we were suppose to take salty mushroom soup, and a chicken rice main course dry?
So here's a suggestion to make everyone's life simpler. Find a caterer with more man power, and serve food on the table whether there's people sitting there or not. Just save the trouble and mess of finding people on the table to serve the food. It's ridiculous.
Complaint #5
Performance. Some were good. Some memang tak jadi. You decide about it, okay? For me most of the performance wasn't impressive. It's more like for filling up the intervals with something so that the hall won't be in a complete silence. At least our other campus got Amber Chia for their night.
But of course, i'm sure al the artist have their interesting sides in their performance. I'm not saying that they ain't cool, it's just that it might not suit the purpose of the night. It ain't their fault if people think the performances sucks, coz it's the arrangement of the organizing team that made them sucks.
Another very dissappointing matter was the emcees. Well, they just ain't good enough. They could really at least catch the attentions of everyone for awhile, but that never happened either. The worst part was, they didn't even promote the booth for the violinist, Joanne Yeoh. Most of us didn't know there's a booth there for her until after the night ended. This is not cool either.
Complaint #6
My friend got the best dress award for male. His price was a lousy bedsheet and a lousy Pooh pillow. Such grand event and the giveaway is like this. I must say, this is so cheap. Damn pariah. They could at least give out some tea vouchers at some nearby hotel or free entrance voucher to Zouk, or even maybe some discount coupons at Body Shop. But instead, they give lousy bedsheet and Pooh pillow. That wasn't impressive too.
Complaint #7
There were comments saying that the committe tried their best to give everything they could possibly give to make the night a success. Well, it's either their best wasn't good enough, or they weren't giving their best at all. They might even talk back at me telling me to organize something like this by my own. Ok, i would. But that would be another story rite? The organizing team took this responsibility upon their shoulder, and therefore they should take in every compliments and criticisms to improve themselves, and also the event in the future. If you only like to listen to good things and turn the blind side to the criticisms, then we'll know how matured you are rite?
The whole event just make me feel something that can be express in a chinese proverbs. I can't type chinese, so i'll transkate it, and i'm sure you'll get it in an instant too. If you don't have such a big head, don't wear such a big hat.
All in all, the night wasn't really a good one. Two thumbs down for the planning and organizing, and not to forget the co-ordination of the flow of the night. It's really a let down. My final year prom and it's got so ruined by lousy organizing team. Except the photo taking part with my friends, and the hall decore, everything else about the night was way below par. Sorry to say.

is not the money that we've paid, but the expectations!it was very very dissapointed...main course served at 11pm only upon request where we were scolded by the stupid waiter for taking pictures else where instead of sitting back in out table.
What would a person do if they're not served with food and yet the emcees on stage were so lousy?...TAKE PICS la of course!
If i have a hammer,i'll make sure i'll hammer his head until its missing!"no face given"!
they should get a hotel which can accommodate 1700 people instead of paying all the money for PICC.
The place was nice but the security was lousy, they used super broken english to shoo us out of the hall!
one word for them....STUPIAK!
